decemberists
« on: August 12, 2006, 11:20:00 am »
does ANYBODY in the ENTIRE WORLD know when the decemberists tickets go on sale?  they have dates up on their website for the 9:30 club, but they aren't even in 9:30's "just announced" section and at this point, it's looking like i'm going to have to get up at 10AM everyday and call to find out if tickets are on sale.  not only would this make me tired, but i think i'd also end up watching my sanity slowly shrivel away.
 save me.  the end.

Their 2 shows are centuries away. Sign up on the  mailing list or check tickets.com Wednesday nights (it will show the ones on sale for the following day).

Also, there was a presale on the decemberists website last week but those tickets are gone.

interesting - how is this done?  go to the 9:30 Club's page on tickets.com and upcoming events will have a note saying "tickets on sale tomorrow"?  or is there some other "upcoming events" page on tickets.com?

Just the 930 Club page on tickets.com around 6 pm and they will be listed along with the ones already on sale.

Knowing about the Sleater-Kinney show a month or two before it was announced and then finding out one day that tickets went on sale and sold out instantly taught me I need to watch the site like a damn hawk.  But since I can't always do that, something tells me I'll be getting my Decemberists tickets off eBay as well.  :(

I am working with The Decemberists in coming up with a poster for the show at the 9:30. It will be printed soon and to the club hopefully by early September. They will be available on my site http://www.eljefedesign.com soon after. Until then, enjoy the not-quite-finished-version.

And before you ask, a Patagon is a mythical person who were supposedly 12 to 15 feet high which is why the woman is so large...

Ditto!

Will these be on sale at the show or only from your web site?

Glad you like them, thanks. They will only be availabe on my site due to space issues. I send out an e-newsletter a week or so before the show announcing the poster is for sale so you can sign up for that and get a heads up. These will be a four-color silkscreen on thick, recycled paper.

My cousin is their drummer, so I'll see you all at the shows.  My Aunt is flying out from OR for the Sunday show!

Anybody else heard the new album?

It may be a low point.  Not bad; simply unspectacular.

This is the only show on the horizon (other than Art Brut) that I am excited about.  I was really looking forward to their show last October but missed it when I caught a bug .
I used to listen to their NPR All Songs Considered show frequently.  I believe that was recored in early 2005.

i read somewhere that it's more like The Tain than their other LPs ... does that sound right?
