For Clutch Fans (or Haters, too, I suppose)

Although I've never see the movie Escape From L.A., and never will unless someone kills me first and props my dead body in front of a tv while it's playing, I do enjoy a few of the tunes on the soundtrack.  I particularly like Escape From The Prison Planet, by Clutch.  Are most of Clutch's songs like this one?  What's a Clutch show like?  I never did get around to any of their local performances.

I haven't actively listened to Clutch in a few years, but if you want REAL pure rock fury, I would pick up their first full-length, Transnational Speedway League: Anthems, Anecdotes & Undeniable Truths.  The first track, A Shogun Named Marcus, is one of the hardest rock songs I've ever heard.  Their second album is pretty great, too (and has Escape from the Prison Planet on it).

Their music kind of shifts from hard core type stuff to groovier, jam-type stuff as you go through their catalog over the years.  The song you like is somewhere in the middle of the chronology.  Live, usually a great band to see.  They've recently begun a two-set show type format for their shows, so they're playing longer.  I saw them recently and they hit stuff from all their records.  They also have seemed to abandon the everlasting jam sessions while playing live, which I'm thankful for - although some fans would disagree with me.  Anyway, they tour all the time, and they are from here, so you'll get the chance to see them I'm sure.
