Jesus was a robot

From Gizmodo:

'The Passion of the Christ' Robot

JOEL JOHNSON -- These are the sort of headlines I wake up for in the morning: 'Robot Jesus Used In Gibson Film.' According to Ananova, it got too cold for star Jim Caviezel to be filmed in just his skivvies up there on the cross, so a $400,000 robot was built to simulate Caviezel simulating Christ simulating the Son of God. I haven't seen the film yet, but I bet you that no one would have killed Jesus if they would have known he was a robot. A couple of eye-beam laser blasts later, halves of Pharisees go flying through the air; Robo-Jesus tears himself off the cross and uses it to clear a path through the crowd, then launches into the air with his rocket sandals, leaving the still-crackling husk of Pontius Pilate below. I'll be back, indeed.

Ahem, TRADITIONALIST Catholics.  It is a huge distinction, and really pissing me off most about this movie/hype.

Gibson is a Traditionalist Catholic, which is a sect that rejects Vatican II (which ended that 'blame the jews' shit) and numerous papal dictates.  I believe they aren't recognized by the Pope.

It's a way-out-there sect that is not a part of the mainstream church (they function as Catholics did 100 years ago, not today, and have their own churches so mass can be said in latin).  I didn't even know about it before the movie hubbub.  And I hate that his extreme views (and his father's 'there was no holocaust' crap) are seen as part of Catholicism.

Just clarifying; the Catholic Church is plenty f'd up, but Gibson's beliefs are beyond the pale.

OK sorry..... I didnt know any of that. On the website:

 http://www.latinmass-ctm.org/about/origin.htm

They make a big deal of the Latin mass, not the other stuff.

But Gibson did seek and the push the popes approval of the film. In my mind, if you dont believe that the pope is gods envoy upon earth, you are not a real Catholic and shouldnt call yourself Catholic, lapsed catholic, maybe....
