Just show him the other Josh's picture and tell him that if anyone even tries to mess with her, they will have to deal with ThatGuy.

In the past, Eddie or Kosmo have posted a phone number concerned parents can call to be reassured. Try posting in the FAQ section.

ask in the FAQ section about the number... and while providing a true buzz kill for the evening parents have been allowed in the backbar during shows

Best advice is buy an advance parking ticket for the show it's right behind the club and there will be plenty of 9:30 staph in the area as well as patrons walking on the street to and from the club.

If one is looking for trouble in the area it will be found, if you drive straight to club and park in the lot you greatly lessen the chance of danger.  There are often off duty DC police hanging outside the club during shows and the 9:30 staff are vigiliant to problems in and outside of the club.

maybe you could show the dad an article about the resurgence of the U street corridor or point him to a site where they're selling condos for upwards of $400k across the street from the 930 club

things have changed dramatically in the last 5-10 years, and i dont want to get into another lengthy talk here about the safety of the area, but suffice it to say that i (and legions others) go to that area all the time for dinner, drinks, friends houses and rarely have any problems ... just use common sense and you'll be fine ... if he's OK sending his daughter to adams morgan or dupont or downtown, he shouldn't worry about the 930 club

What are your intentions with his daughter?  I'm not going to vouch for how safe the club is if it's you he's really worried about.

when i went to go see against me! at the club a couple years ago, they were playing with like 6 other punk bands that i really had no interest in seeing, so before and after their set my friends and i went down to the backbar and got shit-faced with all these biker-type parents .... every once in a while one of their kids would come down and say, "dad, you know you're driving home, right?"

You let the parents in the bar? Without a ticket? What's to stop them from watching the show then?

I'm sure there's something I'm missing here, and I'm going to feel stupid in a second, but, what?
