so how do you get jobs DJing so many shows?  I think thats mad cool. My friend had this thing at the 1614 Lounge in Fells Point for a while, where he DJed drum and bass downstairs and i was mixinf the CDs upstairs, I really enjoyed it. finding the obscure stuff and what not.  Must be a heap of fun, eh? [/b]
clean living and the willingness to fill in at the last minute...  setlist on its way.  and yes heaps of fun especially  when you can spin the record of someone you know and support with all your heart   :D

Good show last night...I was impressed with Dios (great cover of "Where Is My Mind?" by the Pixies, I thought the Fire Theft were OK. Turns out I have hung out with one of the guitarists on a few occasions, did get a chance to say hello to him. Grandaddy were a lot of fun, though, just too bad their set was only 55 minutes. I have the setlist at home, have to say I was surprised with the songs they picked to play. It was great to hear "Velouria", another Pixies cover! They're a bit tighter than the last time I saw them...Grandaddy are a fantastic opening band, I wish they'd be playing at Coachella because they'd be great there. Anyone else go? Thoughts?

Excellent! One more reason to get there early. They were very good...I've got to say Coachella is looking better and better to me.

Kosmo -- what an excellent set list.  Now I'd like a CD of that set!!

Sonick, I love The Sounds.  I think it's time for my Sounds story from the show at Nation with the Strokes.  There is no more early-80s loving band than these Swedes.  They had this huge banner of them all tough looking in black and white standing on a yellow and black checkered floor -- it was so Cars or Kim Wilde, I could barely stand it.

The too-blonde lead singer loves smacking her ass with the microphone, which is pretty funny as she does it a lot, like she's a horse and a jockey both, whipping herself for more speed.  The other guys look like tame versions of Depeche Mode, tight (but somehow tasteful] wife-beater tees on their skinny-ass bodies and all.

So it's the last song, the band members leave the stage one by one, leaving the two wife-beater tee'd guys mid-stage, each holding drumsticks, and standing in front of a double electronic drum set -- just two hexagon-shaped snares on a high stand, like a flower stalk with two blossoms, one on each side.  The two guys do this tribal duo-drum thing with big strokes, raising the sticks high in the air alternately and beating that electronic surface.  It was such a trip; I was transported to my teen years and my first Thompson Twins show.  It was hysterical, cool, silly and fun all at once.

See The Sounds at Coachella; it'll be a trip.   ;)

uh get in line     kosmette is giving not so subtle hints about getting wedding reception cds together for april.

i have however been thinking about getting some of  those 3" cdrs and putting together mp3 mixes.  i need to figure out if for instance you can export/import a itunes playlist, etc.  you willing to be a beta tester?

But of course!

Don't you burn MP3s the same way you do an audio CD?  You just set your preference on MP3 instead of audio, then "burn" the iTunes playlist.  That's the way I've always done it with regular CD-Rs.

The Fire Theft ruled last night.  Only problem...their set was too short.  They rule!

I got there late so wasn´t able to see Dios. As for Grandaddy, I thought they were good, but the set was extremely short. Even though it was nice to hear them playing the Pixies' Velouria, I thought they didn't play it very well, pretty bad actually. The october show with SFA was their best show I have seen so far. They didn't seem very motivated either. I left before Saves the Day started playing.
