JET: Past 930 Appearances
« on: December 04, 2006, 05:35:00 pm »
At JET show, the band said this was their third time at the Club.
I saw 'em in March 04, but didn't know of anyother time they played.
 Anyone remember?

And - I was really digging Sunday's show -- great grooves, nice melodies, terrific hooks, and the all-important rock 'n' roll swagger.

I think they played with Kings of Leon, no?

Yes, the show with Kings of Leon was fall 2003.

Great show.  The Blue Van were pretty entertaining as well.

I was surprised that there wasn't any chat about this show, considering it was sold out.

I was really impressed with The Blue Van. Some pretty solid rock and roll. They reminded me somewhat of Wolfmother but not quite as over the top. Alot of equipment climbing by the Blue Van resulted in Jet's guitar player to have to resort to climbing higher up and further out (to the bar). You can't let the punks in the opener do one better than you!

Jet were alot of fun. I've read several negative reviews of the new release but I enjoyed what I heard.

I have no idea how either band's singers make it through a tour without shredding their vocal chords completely.

Probably due to the fact that most everyone here has long realized how much this band sucks.

Alex is right.  Jet is nowhere nearly as good as most the alt./indie "bands du jour" you never heard of that are highly touted on this board (until that band sells a few albums and then Alex and those like him/her will say they suck as well).

First of all, I'm the last one on this board to tout any indie rock bands that no one has ever heard of.

Second of all, you're standing up for a band that blatantly ripped off one of Iggy Pop's biggest hits, and didn't even try to hide it, and got big off of that.

 You lose.

True about Jet's Iggy rip-off, but rock bands thoughout the history of rock have ripped off other bands an many gladly admit it.  I just get tired of the neverending "this band sucks or that band sucks" that always show up in threads when 1.  nobody asked for someone's opinion on the band being discussed and 2. any band out there is going to have people who don't like them.  I even have a good friend who doesn't like the Beatles...go figure (although I'm sure there are tons of board members here who would likely add that the Beatles suck).
Bottom line is your comments add nothing to the thread and makes you look like one of the indie intellectual wannabes who trash any band that sells more than 1000 cds.

Jet's alright.  I would have gone for the Blue Van had it not been TENACIOUS D NIGHT!

This page is dedicated to the most overrated band in rock & roll history. More overrated than the Stones, more than Led Zepplin, more than Michael Jackson, even more overrated than Britney or Jessica Simpson.

They remind me of Saturday Night Live, they just won't go away. Of course the difference is SNL was good at one time.

What is it anyway? I know the American public is like a herd of cows, eating up whatever is put in their face. Hell, half of them don't know the Earth revolves around the Sun once a year. But Jesus, you'd think in 30+ years they'd wake up!

Bottom line is, there is nothing original, nor redeeming regarding anything having to do with this band.  Just because DC101 has their shitty new single and that Iggy Pop rip off song on their list of 30 songs that they are allowed to play over and over does not make them good, and does not make me an intellectual wannabe for pointing out the truth.
