7th street closed

I'm coming from route 66 to get to the AWK show tonight.  I noticed that 7th street is going to be closed because of the Memorial Day stuff going on.  Does anyone know of another way to get to the club?

I take Route 66 from Virginia to K Street. And then you can avoid the whole downtown area.

Well, I mean you can avoid the whole Memorial Day/Constitution Ave stuff.

66 to roosevelt bridge
 stay in left lane and get on E st.
 L on 18th St.
 R on H St.
 L on 15th St to Thomas Circle
 
 Easy Way:
 Go around the Circle and go
 R on 14th St.
 R on U St.
 L on Vermont...club is at the end (past gas station across 9th).
 
 Better Way:
 Go around the Circle and go R on Vermont
 Where VT dead ends go right, then
 L on 13th to Logan Circle. Go around Logan and
 R to pick up Vermont again
 Keep going North/Northeast on VT (have to detour for 100 ft going L on 11th then R on VT again) till you are crossing U on VT...
 Club is a block up across 9th st.
 --This way sound confusing but is easy.

Get off on the Key Bridge exit. Go over the Key Bridge but don't go all the way over into Georgetown. Instead, take the turn off the bridge that dumps you onto some Parkway whose name I can't recall, which feeds you onto K street.

I wonder how many of the WW2 veterans will make it to the AWK show? Nice job by the 9:30 Club in booking someone sure to draw from the big weekend tourist crowd!
 
    I did go see part of the Hot Club of Costown performance at lunchtime. Some of the octagenarians were dancing their shoes off, surely warming up for the big show tonight.

Why do WW2 vets get a memorial anyway, didn't they win?  Memorials are supposed to be for tragedy.  The sweet taste of victory should be enough for them.
 
 What's next?  The Spanish-American war memorial?  The French & Indian war memorial?  The Mexican-American war memorial(Billy Bob Thornton could get all puffed up about this last one)?
 
 What's really needed is a Confederate Soldiers memorial.   After all they lost too, just like the Korean vets & the Vietnam vets.   Somehow though, I don't see that one pushing through congress.
 
 Soon to come? Iraq2 war memorial?  WW3 war memorial?  Canadian-American war memorial?

There's always been a perfectly good WW2 "memorial" in the DC metro area.

You've obviously never seen Monument Ave in Richmond VA.  A big wealthy boulevard lined with huge homes....and running down the center monuments to all your favorite confederate heroes..Robert E Lee, Stonewall Jackson, JEB Stuart  A while back they decided to put a monument to Arthur Ashe (he's from Richmond) on Monument Ave and people went apeshit.  Ahh, the south...

Yes, we won, but lost a lot of men and women in the pursuit.  We are remembering their sacrifice and their dedication to service, as we should all others who have given their lives to honor our country and its policies, whether we individually agree with the war or not.   Yes, even the war we're in now.
