when i saw interpol at sonar, i thought they sounded great...was too crowded though

then i saw flogging molly/gogol bordello at sonar..(mainly went to see flogging molly) which was also sold out...and it sounded terrible (all bands) way way way too crowded, and the pillars get in the way of sight lines.

i wasn't going to buy pixies tickets because of that, but broke down since i haven't seen them before.  i love having all these great shows in downtown baltimore, but many improvements could be made (also the AC system sucks balls)

From the  Sonar website:

Quote
By September the lounge will have a completely new sound system. The club will have all new gear to run our live shows, and the sound in that room will be upgraded. The main stage area will see all manner of improvements, from the crowd areas to the backstage, as we strive for legendary international status as one of the premier venues in the U.S.
Hopefully the Pixies show will sound good...

That Flogging Molly show was hotter than balls, but it was still a good place to see a show as long as you can avoid the pillars.

Hell, anyplace that has $2 beer and hosts big shows like this is ok by me.

Oh, and I got tickets to this!

For Pixie fans:  They're also playing in Charlottesville, VA.  Check:

I've never been to Starr Hill, but I assume it's a small venue...

Edit: just looked at their website and saw that their capacity is 450. I couldn't find anything about The Pixies, but that would be amazing if they're playing there

They're playing at the new Pavillion in Charlottesville:

Saw the Violent Femmes there the other night, it was great.  Capacity is about 3,000; I love shows at a small, outdoor theater.

Starr Hill is TINY.  I have seen a few acts there (secret machines, citizen cope, damnwells, etc).  Small satge stuffed up into a corner.  No rail what so ever.  Walk right up to the stage.  The UVa crowd is a bit 'different'.  Often quite subdued.  Had a great time at every show, but dont plan to eat there before the show unless you have $$$.  Food prices downstairs are high.
