Finally, Orange County, CA is taking over the world. Welcome to our world.
First you heard it, now you saw it....
But, Ma, I Saw It on 'The O.C.'
By STEPHANIE ROSENBLOOM
THE new season of the Fox melodrama "The O.C." is days away, but teenagers needn't wait to shop a new line of bohemian Southern California fashions inspired by that hit show.
Designed by Karla Stevens, a past-season wardrobe supervisor for "The O.C.," and Ady Gluck-Frankel of the label Necessary Objects, the 12-piece line (called Necessary Objects for the O.C.) has a cap-sleeve sweater that is sweet and flirty. Gauchos and a tie-back halter vest offer a ladylike take on men's wear. Prices range from $38 to $78 at Amazon.com/theoc.
Those in need of a bag or two to complete a back-to-school wardrobe may want to check out LeSportSac.com. Amy Davis, a fashion illustrator, has designed a limited-edition print for fall known as Backstage, far left, which features colorful vignettes of the frenzy behind the runway shows: models chatting, hairdressers wielding dryers, floating lipsticks and racks of clothes. The design is used on a variety of bags, including a rectangular makeup carrier ($14), a bucket tote ($39), an overnighter ($102) and that school perennial, the backpack ($74).
Also worth noting: the youthful brand XOXO has increased its sizing. Shoppers can now choose sizes 14 to 24 at xoxo.com (under plus sizes).
