Ted Nugent: "I Want 'Em Dead!"
« on: April 18, 2005, 12:18:00 pm »
Apr 17, 8:46 PM (ET)

HOUSTON (AP) - With an assault weapon in each hand, rocker and gun rights advocate Ted Nugent urged National Rifle Association members to be "hardcore, radical extremists demanding the right to self defense."

Speaking at the NRA's annual convention Saturday, Nugent said each NRA member should try to enroll 10 new members over the next year and associate only with other members.

"Let's next year sit here and say, 'Holy smokes, the NRA has 40 million members now,'" he said. "No one is allowed at our barbecues unless they are an NRA member. Do that in your life."

Nugent sang and played a guitar painted with red and white stripes for the crowd at Houston's downtown convention center.

He drew the most cheers when he told gun owners they should never give up their right to bear arms and should use their guns to protect themselves if needed.

"Remember the Alamo! Shoot 'em!" he screamed to applause. "To show you how radical I am, I want carjackers dead. I want rapists dead. I want burglars dead. I want child molesters dead. I want the bad guys dead. No court case. No parole. No early release. I want 'em dead. Get a gun and when they attack you, shoot 'em."

speaking of hypocrisy, i love how the NRA claims that their first and foremost goal is "protecting the constitution" (then the second amendment), and of course these are the same people who rip into the ACLU on a constant basis

by the way, what's the attack against the ACLU from these right-wingers who claim to be constitution lovers?  do they say the ACLU is misinterpreting the first amendment, or are they just not concerned at all with blatant hypocrisy (ala, anti-abortion, pro-death)?

i used to be a gun control activist (interned at handgun control, inc, etc), until i sobered up and realized what a futile cause it is ... NRA / gun industry just has too much $$$ and too many voters who make it a #1 issue and a litmus test for candidates ... 80%+ people in this country support common sense gun control, but barely any of them would make it a litmus test, hardly any make it their #1 issue, and even less donate $$$ to the cause.

if ted wants to live by the way of the gun like the good olde days, he'd better be willing to give up all his modern day comforts, including very importantally modern medicine.   plop ted in the middle of deadwood and i bet he'd wouldn't last a week, pig food in no time with a yap like that.

ted's a completel nut, but he's actually a pretty consistent throw-back, i saw something on VH1 of MTV about him ... everything he eats he kills himself, lives out in the woods of michigan, etc

As a displacednative Detroiter I wonder why all of the great state of Michigan's contributions to music have to be such weirdos; the Nuge, Alice Cooper, Jack White, Kid Rock, etc.

but how far of a throw back is he willing to be... no ac, suv, high tech bow, marshall amp,

if people want to live by the rules of the wild west then they had better be willing to take the the good, the bad and the ugly of a much different time.  and i suspect they wouldn't last a week...

Well, Baltimore gave us Frank Zappa, Philip Glass and David Byrne. And, of course, John Waters.

I have to assume sometime during his musical heyday that he shagged some underage fans.  Wouldn't that make him a child molester?  Maybe he should just kill himself.
