No more Black Eyes?

Am I the only one who missed this?

 Black Eyes calling it quits
 03.26.2004 / 12:31

It's with great sadness and a heavy heart that I must pass along word that DC-based indie rock band Black Eyes will play their final show tonight at the Black Cat. Their debut self-titled album was released by Dischord in 2002 and has pleased many a critic, including our own staff. Their sophmore, now-final release "Cough" will still be released in May.

kurosawa knew.  She mentioned to me before that show that she was going to hit it, especially as it was their last show ever.

Yeah, what El Tee said. Can't say I was a big fan, but still, you hate to see a DC band that was gettin some respect go away.

Is one of the bandmembers mainlining Jack Daniels and oxycontin?

Did one of them find Jesus?

Skanky girlfriend telling one of them he'd do better as a solo artist?

Give us a Behind-the-Music-worthy scoop, Walkman.

Well, as the resident Yoko in Exit Clov, I won't throw any stones.

I'm going with "artistic differences" (translation....the bassist was shagging the singers bird!)

Redsock's got it right...everyone's favorite bearded neo-nowaver has a little missy who's looking for an internship and a PhD â?? and UC Santa Barbara came a-knockin'.  So off they go...

But there were some subtle artistic differences - the new record has much more to offer by way of dub & krautrock influences and less hardcore.  So you've got your Yoko AND your Two Virgins.
