Its a tie...

Ryan Oneal and Tatum Oneal.  Paper Moon.  Sitting at Coney Island eating hot dogs.  Ryan asks Tatum "Do you know what scruples are?" and Tatum replies "I don't know, but if you have them they are probablly somebody else's."

Al Pacino.  And Justice For All.  Opening scene of the trial for John Forsythe.  Al is continuing a rather "kick em in the nuts" diatribe for his opening statement and is being dragged out of the court room by baliffs after just slightly crossing the line and he yells "Wait a minute, Wait a minute.  That concludes my opening statement."  To which the entire court room start cheering and raising all sorts of hell.

"...what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it."

I dont want to sell anything bought or processed or buy anything sold or processed or repair anything sold, bought or processed as a career. I dont want to do that. My father's in the army. He wants me to join, but I can't work for that corporation, so what I've been doing lately is kick-boxing, which is a new sport...as far as career longevity, I dont really know. I cant figure it all out tonight, sir, so I'm just gonna hang with your daughter."

How can you have list of the greatest movie quotes of all time without the quote "Houston, we have a problem!" How can you leave that out?

I guess to me if it is a real life quote put into a movie, or even a line from a book put into a movie, I view less as a great line from a movie than a great line from life/a book in a movie and as such I don't really think it deserves top billing.
