Seth and Twangirl???
« on: February 03, 2004, 05:42:00 pm »
This question goes to Seth and twangirl.  Do you guys ever go after bands that have a tour coming up or do they come to you?  Is there ever any competition to book a band from other venues and cities or do the booking agents already know where their clients should play according to size and location?  Do you guys ever get excited after booking a band or is it just a formality?

What band/act was the biggest â??getâ?ť for the 930 since youâ??ve moved?

What band/act do you want to book that youâ??ve been unable to?

Just curious about the whole processâ?¦

The answer to all of these questions is yes.

We have been fortunate to host many artists that can be considered icons of our time. Disregarding the term "get", which seems somehow distasteful, a few of my personal favorites have been The Rev. Al Green, Johnny Cash, and Bob Dylan.

A few that come to mind are David Bowie, Devo, Neil Young, and Kraftwerk. Seth probably has some others to add.

Just curious about the whole processâ?¦

yes, getting Devo back. JGatz was asking about since we've moved. If Devo played here, it might make me spontaneously combust.

I hear they and Kraftwork do play occasional shows so it is not like they are all working in steel mills and have lost half their fingers...

Kraftwerk is playing in Toronto on April 23, the closest they'll get to DC. I'm seriously considering going up there for it.

Double bill, problem is that it would be what $100 a ticket?  Not sure the two crowds would mix well...

Yep,i'm still miffed over the whole Tibetan fiasco a few years back, paid outrageous amount for sold out tix and then they don't even play.I'd say they owe us a show.

i caught kraftwerk in detroit (state theater) a few years back...awesome.  they came out on stage in TRON outfits, the place went nuts.

how about a dream show - kraftwerk and troublefunk?  they could all get on stage together and do a go-go TEE for an encore...

That would be cool, considering Bambaataa plundered that album already!
