Who's going tomorrow?  And does anybody know what time this is supposed to start?  The Dischord site hasn't posted any info.

I saw the first show of the tour in Richmond. Great show, very chatty, signed stuff for everyone afterwards.

Only played an hour though. No complaints though.

I heard doors at 7:30, show at 8.  It's gonna be $5, benefitting the Washington Free Clinic.

There's also gonna be a food drive so bring peanut butter, canned veggies, etc.

Sadly, I'd made dinner plans for tonight about a month before I heard about this show so I won't be able to attend.  I'm bummed...I think this is the first show of theirs I've missed in the area in the last year or so.  Have fun!!

Soccer Team is playing too?  Damn.  Sorry I have to miss this.  Soccer Team's disc is one of my favorites of the year.

St Stephens is at 16th and Newton, a few blocks northwest of the Columbia Heights Metro.

I haven't been to a concert like that (under 200 people) in a while. I thought the Evens sounded better live than on their CD. In particular, Amy's voice was a lot more impressive. The posters they were selling for $3 were a great deal.

I thought the new songs had a bit more growl to them live, which was nice.

The three dollar poster is quite fantastic.  Ryan from Soccer Team did 'em and he also has some stuff being shown at Transformer:

Yes it was a good show. The Evens, they're a dance band.

I'm glad I picked up a poster early on, it looks like it sold out. Very nice work by Ryan.

I've listened to both Evens releases a number of times, and while they are pleasant enough, they're pretty dull (though the sound of the baritone guitar is interesting for a spell).

Does anyone actually REALLY DIG this group or are they PURELY riding the coat tails of Ian's past successes (which would be understandable, I suppose, considering his past accomplishments, in the worlds of music, business and activism).

Or maybe i'm just totally missing the boat on the greatest thing since, uh, Fugazi.

I really dig them, and yes, in a completely different way than I really dig Fugazi.  They've got an interestingly unique sound which I think is pretty fresh for the whole DC music scene.  Also well thought-out lyrics and powerful live shows.  Always fun.  That, in a nutshell, provides for a relatively good band...don't you think?
