iTunes Question - Runtime Error

I've been getting a runtime error while running iTunes for a while now, and I don't really know enough about it to have any clue what to do to fix it.  I just tried upgrading to the latest version, but that hasn't helped either.  
 
 Any ideas before I head over to the Apple site for support?

a) have you recently upgraded to ver 7 of itunes?  if so, did it ever work properly before this prob?  were you having the runtime prob with ver 6?  
 
 b) install any other new programs right around when this started happening?
 
 c) any chance you have a NVIDIA GeForce video card?  i've read about those further exacerbate the issue...

Try a full uninstall and re-install of Itunes.  Maybe that'll help.

Before you do anything, backup your iTunes Library files.
 
 Do you have MusicMatch Jukebox as well?  
 
 Running both iTunes 7 and MM (especially if MM has a little icon in the bottom right, but is not maximized) will cause runtime errors.

 Does it only happen after a certain process (like after you burn a CD) or does it happen at random?

Completely randomly.  The only things that I generally do in iTunes (lately anyway) have been importing files, ripping CDs and playing mp3s.  It's happened during all of these, and occassionally while iTunes is opened but not functioning (no playing, imported, etc.).
 
 I'll check on MuchMusic, but I dont' think I have that installed.  Does uninstalling iTunes remove the library files?  I have everything backed up, but I'll do a back-up of my back-up if it removes everything.

No, the files will still be there if you uninstall.  But anytime I make changes, it's good practice to back up.
 
 Senor Carlos is right - the first thing I would do is uninstall, reboot and reinstall.  Make sure no other music programs are running when you reinstall.

It is.  I heard so many complaints about 7.0 (include poor Pollard losing his harddrive), that I decided to wait for a few revisions.

Word of warning: If you are using one of those NVIDIA GeForce video cards, do not; I repeat; DO NOT, install any upgrades for this sucker!
 
 
 Otherwise, you will regret it....and there is no coming back. It will make all kinds of weird shit like that happen. Even my mouse is doing strange (and annoying) little magic tricks of things that I don't even have controls for in my mouse software. After awhile, I've learned to just deal with some stumbling along realizing it's better than not running at all.

Not true.  I fixed that thing in about 2 hours (from 3,000 miles away no less)!  :-)
 
 Although, Jag's partially right - I don't recommend upgrading if you have WinME.  Of course I don't recommend running WinME either.

It shouldn't, but if you wanna be safe rename your music folder(s) before proceeding (I simply put an X at the end of the folder name). Of course, you can backup your music as well.

I hear ya. 7 is a hog. I reinstalled 6 on my work PC because 7 couldn't access my CD drive.
