On a similar note, what are people's opinions on the Metro in Chicago?

I have. Cool place. Thumbs up. Though very crowded when I was there (Waco Brothers). Bring a couple of extra bucks and get your picture made in the photo booth.

Both places  are good.
I saw 16 Horsepower at Schuba's for 2 nights and it was crowded but not uncomfortable, and sound was much better than I expected.  I like the bar area in front for hanging out before and after the show.
Metro is very nice although I haven't been there in a while. It's comparable in size to 9:30 and often gets nominated for the same Pollstar awards. They run a very pro operation there and it's an excellent place to see a show.

Never been to Schuba's, but have heard good things. Gotta say the Metro is one my favorite venues besides the 9:30. Bands love to play there. Good sound, great location (down the block from Wrigley Field and the Cubby Bear). Check it out if you get a chance. I saw Smashing Pumpkins back in 1993 (the week that Siamese Dream was released) at the Metro and it was a pretty amazing night. Sigh. So many memories of the Metro.

This was to be my final hit. But let's be clear about this, there's final hits and final hits. What kind was this to be?

Metro is OK.  But the best place to see a show (and bowl a couple frames) is without a doubt Fireside Bowl.

Ahh, right film, wrong time.

That is the suppositories scene, you are paraphrasing, "For all the good they have done me, I may as well have stuck them up my arse!"

The scene I quoted is from the bus, on the way to London.

Have I always been such a gushing bore?
