Early Show/Late Show
« on: April 06, 2007, 08:58:00 am »
What's with this early show/late show crap?  Since they're announced at different times, the people who buy tickets for a show that is subsequently demoted to early status get burnt big time.  Example:  Ben Gibbard.  You think I wouldn't rather go to the later show than the one starting at 6:30?  Similarly, I bought tickets for the Albert Hammond Jr. show, and then they announce frickin' Iggy and the frickin' Stooges!  Who do you think I'd rather have seen?  And on top of it, the show started at the ungodly hour of 6 o'clock.  Now, when's the last time you saw that place in the daylight?
 Hey Seth, what gives?

I have to agree, this is starting to happen more and more, and it's frustrating when you've bought a ticket and then the schedule for the night changes.

I skipped Albert Hammond because of the start time.

In the Ben Gibbard instance, I guess I'd prefer the early show to the late show on a 'school night,' but I'm not pumped about 6:30 doors.  I'm usually still at work at 6:30.

well we certainly don't prefer these situations, but when a band wants to play, and that's the only date they can do, like Iggy, then we figure it's better than not doing them

in the case of Ben, he sold out quickly...the people that are now able to go to the 2nd show are undoubtedly happy about that situation

we still deliver the shows as promised but, if you're really that unhappy, I don't want to take your money...next time one of these comes up and you'd like a refund, give us a call

Ugh.  I didn't realize Grandmaster Flash was another 12:00 start time.   I need a nap.

I didn't realize that the KC/Walkmen show was such a late start until after I purchased my ticket. I'm thinking that's my fault.  :)   (I know it's Saturday - but I need to get up early for Peter Rabbit!)
Anyhow, I do prefer earlier shows during the week. Early doors can be a crunch, especially on Fridays. As long as the main act doesn't go on at 6:30 or 7, I have a shot!

I certainly wanted to see the Stooges last night, but it sold out and seeing the Mooney Suzuki and being home by 9:30 was a nice alternative.

Yes, I was the one guy into them there.  DC crowds are so stoic.  It took a gimmick like standing on speakers to get the crowd into it last night.  But I'm rambling now...

 In Seth I trust...

Who can name the three headlining artists (well four if you include blowoff) who did a three show day at the club?

Nevermind.  I read the question incorrectly.

One major reason I wanted to be there.

Was one of them blink-182? I remember they played a $1 show at like 3pm and I think there was a doubleheader after them.

He is not asking for an artist who played 3 days in a row. He's asking for the three artist who all played the club on the same day.

I might be way off on this but was it that 311 or some youngish band in the afternoon, Zero Seven and then The Dandy Warhols? I know Zero Seven always gets sandwiched with some other show.

it's all a blur, but i think one triple day involved good charlotte, robert randolph, and five for fighting.
