Very psyched for the club show now.
does he rip off that one new radicals song for the vocal melody in "wicked wanda"? the album sounds pretty ok on first listen, but i reserve the right to change my opinion either way.

Nick Cave (I want you to dig!)
 Juan Maclean
 Kelley Polar

Maybe we'll get a Shirley Manson record...

just bought the latest edition of Q magazine, cover story: "2008 preview! your essential guide to the new year in music".  below are some other bands that are scheduled to release an album this year that i haven't seen mentioned here (not that these bands necessarily qualify as something you're looking forward to...)

 - oasis
 - the kooks
 - the verve
 - dido
 - metallica
 - eminem
 - jack johnson
 - gnarls
 - paul weller
 - keane
 - arctic monkeys
 - razorlight
 - the killers
 - morrissey (expected in september)
 - dr dre
 - the klaxons

also heard someone mention on the radio that there are rumors of a zack de la rocha solo album.

Ordinarily, that might be a joke but maybe he's working with Fripp again?

I plan to buy the DVD version of this album....

Thurston Moore To Score Adult Film
 By Eliot Van Buskirk
 January 18, 2008

Sonic Youth's lead axeman Thurston Moore recorded a soundtrack for a film called Extra Action (And Extra Hardcore), featuring "real women: unpretentious, unadorned, and definitely undressed."

We can probably expect something different from Thurston on this one; it's doubtful he'd employ the standard bow-chicka-wow approach. (Is that even a standard anymore, or merely a dying 70s trope?  Nevermind).

"Those who love Kern's books know each is an invitation to join him as he follows them through their homes-or his New York apartment-from backyard to kitchen to bathroom to bedroom, capturing every sexy and embarrassing moment," according to the official description.

"Whenever Kern photographs one of these energetic, clothes-dropping exhibitionists, he brings out a video camera and asks them to 'roll around and do something interesting for a few minutes.' Extra Action [one hour long] documents 60 of these innocent amateur incidents set to an original musical score by Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth."

Extra Action (And Extra Hardcore) ships on March 18th for $20 (available on Family Video?).

 Tracklisting:

 The King of Sex
 Pierce
 Scooter and Jinx
 Catholic
 Nazi
 Goodbye 42nd Street
 (via nme)

It would be nice if Autolux released their album this year.  But I'm not holding my breath.

It was sorta meant as a joke...

Anyway, you prompted me to listen "Sacred Songs."  I don't know what to make of it.
