I heard one track from it this weekend and came away with the same impression.  It sounded more like a regular rock song than a strong Bauhaus song.  Not really bad, just....eh.

You'll have to take MTV's word on this one regarding the PATD fan's reaction to the name change, I already killed enough brain cells reading the reaction comments from your typically fan of a Road Runner Records band to that labels newest band De Novo Dahl.

But the damage had already been done ... as several of their fans pointed out on sites like PATDOnline.com, the loss of the exclamation point seemed to indicate that Panic were doing everything in their power to put their past behind them (though we're not sure why they'd want to do that.)"

Thanks for clearing that up; I had no idea who "p!atd" refered to. Given the exclamation point, I had wondered if it was some new African band that the hipsters were drooling over.

I've always found Boris to be so hit-or-miss. If it werent' for Pink, I'd probably have written them off. They're one of those bands that I'm having to constantly adjust the volume because they'll have three minutes of static or hushed ambient noodling and then they'll redline with the noise.
 Genghis Tron and Meshuggah are also 'out there' and they're pretty good.

The all-over-the-placeness of their albums is one thing I always liked about them. This one is like that probably more than any other. There's a track on here that sounds like they gave it to Merzbow to play with after they recorded it followed by an almost completely acoustic ballad.
