Ticket Contest: The Silver Beats and Pre-Show Happy Hour
« on: January 09, 2008, 04:27:00 pm »
9:30 Club will be giving away 2 tickets  to the The Silver Beats on Friday, January 11th. Winners will also win admission into the pre-show happy hour, where we will be providing a selection of NEW grilled paninis...on us.

The Silver Beats are a Japanese Beatles cover band, who have previously performed with The Killers.

In order to qualify to win tickets you must complete the last line of this verse from a famous Beatles song:

When I find myself in times of trouble
                      Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, Let it be

                      "__________ _____ __ ______, ___ __ __."

We will be choosing 5 winners, so please enter ONLY if you will be able to attend. Please submit your entries to list_serve@930.com.

The contest will end on Thursday, January 10th at 3 p.m, and winners will be notified shortly after the contest has ended.

For anyone intrigued by the Silver Beats...

They've got a pretty decent English-language website at:

what's next, a bald guy and some smoking hotties in bathing suits with briefcases out in front of the club??

or how about a gigantic wheel that spins and picking letters spelled out on manhole covers.

are you serious?  is "we performed with the Killers" really the second half of their one-sentence description of themselves?

is it too late to win? I actually want to see them, but didn't think I'd be able to until recently (last minute)

I didn't win. I guess that means the last line to Let It Be is not, in fact, "Casey Calvert is a loser who wasted his life," huh, Dave?

Amazing show.  They sounded just as good as they did when they played with the Killers.
Only bad part of the show was when the roadie came on stage (sebastian bach looking mo-fo) and sang.  It totally took all the energy out of the show.  Once he left, the show totally kicked ass.

I agree about the roadie coming on during the encore.  He's pretty good but he ruins the novelty and illusion of the all Japanese cover band.  I figured it was some kind of Japanese polite thing to put your roadie on stage.

By the way, the panini sandwiches tasted pretty good.  The one I ordered evoked the flavors of a Cuban sandwich.  It would be killer if they actually put a "Cubanini" on the menu.  They also gave out bags  o' swag.

Thanks 930 for a fun night.
