I once saw a band called Speedwell at the Blackcat. They seemed pretty solid.

If you're counting bands that are no longer, I'd have to say Dismemberment Plan.  Otherwise it would be Tone, Phaser, Trans Am, and Washington Social Club.

i guess i would say wsc but have only seen them once so maybe they were really good that show, I think have seen Dead Meadow more than any other band, local or not, so I could go with them as well

and I really like the carlsonics' album, but have only seen them once as well and it was not as good as the album

Fugazi goes without saying, except for the fact that I just said it...

Jimmie's Chicken Shack is still a rockin' bunch of righteous musicians so I'd have to say them - I'm surprised no one else has.  I wish they'd play 9:30 this summer before I go back to school.

 - Are Ted Leo & the Pharmacists still considered local?  They're pretty sweet live. BOOK 'EM 9:30!

 - And yeah, it's real trendy right now to rip Good Charlotte, man.  They work hard and I'ma put a vote in for them if no one else think's it's 'cool' to do so.  They certainly beat out shitty bands like 'Greenleo'

Washington Social Club, by far.
 The Carlsonics
 The Nighties (R.I.P.)

But I need to get out and listen to more local stuff...for one, looks like I need to give Beauty Pill a second chance.  Saw the at Fort Reno and I was uninspired...

Actually my real favourite is Your Pal (Pete Wright)

Who may or may not be playing at Staccato on Friday.
