Woo hoo. Go O's. Only 161 more games until the completion of an undefeated regular season.

The beauty of baseball is that a loss, or even multiple losses in row, can all be erased once you team is healthy. I give props to the new O's brass, they have put together a nice lineup of young guys and proven hitters. A decent bullpen too, but that rotation is mighty suspect. Much like Toronto, that is going to keep them from really competing. The sox have 3 SP better than the O's ace. And Wakefield and a healthy Kim are both better than your #2 (whichever young guy you pick). But good luck to you on the season, I fully expect Baltimore to be a tough team to beat this year.

I agree. The O's rotation is a nightmare. 10 major league wins total among the rotation save Sidney, who pitched well last night despite looking like he ate Mike Bordick. I think that they'll have trouble hitting the .500 mark this summer, though.

Roy Halladay got smoked today by Detriot with ex Oriole pitcher Jason Johnson pitching a gem. Ivan is gonna turn that team around in that weak division. Fantasy wise i'm hoping Pat Burrell and Paul Konerko have break thru seasons after last years disasters.

Me too. Konerko started to turn it around in the second half. Hopefully that bodes well for this season.

How exactly is the O's rotation a "nightmare"? Yes, they are young and unproven at the major league level. But at this point, that hardly makes then a "nightmare".

Look at every other rotation in the AL East. Now look at the O's rotation. The O's farm system, once a laughingstock, has some good quality arms in it, like Eric Bedard and Adam Loewen. But they aren't ready for a full major league season - yet. Which leaves the O's with either retreads that will break down (Omar Daal), or major leaguers who never got it together in the first place (K. Ainsworth). Sidney Ponson is really a #2-3 starter on most contenders. That might work in the AL Central, but not in the best division in baseball. The O's lineup is much improved, but the rotation won't keep them competitive. They'll struggle to break .500, and the rotation will be described as a nightmare...

Bedard, Ainsworth, and Riley all had Spring era's well under 4, and Dubose was close to it. If two of those 4 pan out well, that makes them at least decent. Yes, Daal is garbage, but he's not in the rotation anyway. We shall see.

Pat Burrell had a torrid spring last year. Last year the O's had the best record in Spring training. Sometimes the spring doesn't translate into the regular season.
