The chart doesn't go back far enough for my birthdate...

Actually, I could care less who topped the UK charts the date I was born. What about the US charts?

I wasn't even going to bother, 'cuz chances are I wouldn't know the song anyhow (who the hell are the Tremeloes), but I GOT THE MONKEES!!!  AND Ian Astbury!  Oh yeah, and David Byrne.  I'm feeling good.

 The Number 1 single was:
The Tremeloes - "Silence Is Golden"

 The Number 1 album was:
Monkees - "More Of The Monkees"

 Born on 14th May:
 1936 - Bobby Darin
1943 - Jack Bruce ( real name John Symon Asher Bruce; bassist, Cream )
1952 - David Byrne ( vocalist; solo and with Talking Heads )
1962 - Ian Astbury ( real name Ian Lindsay; lead vocalist, The Cult )
 1973 - Natalie Appleton ( vocalist; All Saints / Appleton )

There's another site that does both UK and US #1s, but I don't remember where I saw it.

PS, did anyone see a half hour of Barry Manilow on Good Morning America today?   ;)
