Not sure anyone else made it up to Philly for Riot fest, but that was easily my favorite festival I've ever attended. Being around a bunch of fellow punk rock music geeks was so much fun, as was seeing people like DJ Bonebrake and Joe Jack Talcum wandering around talking to folks. I've discovered that I cannot stand festivals with more than a couple stages. Focus on one or 2 genres, trim the fat, and keep the attendance size and price manageable. One day in an urban area is perfect. Lollapalooza is for the young 'uns. I realize I'm getting older, but the nonstop assault of bands like the Suicide Machines, Hot Water Music, X, Dead Milkmen and the Descendents made for a truly exceptional evening. Milo brought his kids onstage for "All-o-gistics", which was about one of the most awesome things I've ever seen. Positively adorable. The festival set off fireworks when they went on stage and it was so great to see them going off during "Silly Girl". And nothing sucks about seeing X perform the Los Angeles LP either. And I'm sorry to say this, but Philly has become my favorite city to see live music. Not that the 9:30 Club isn't still amazing, but Philly audiences aren't as jaded.
