I thought Dot Dash were also pretty good. The only other time I had seen them was at Chickfactor where the bad acoustics in that room in Artisphere swallowed them up.

Oh, right, THAT's where I saw them before. I found a button of theirs in my bag this week and couldn't remember where I got it. Yeah, unfortunately, I didn't get there until right before Airiel started.

I'm sure other people here are wondering why we didn't just have this conversation last night at the show.

It's my thread. They can deal. :)

They started with literally less than ten people in the space. The venue made them start right at 8:30.

Been looking forward to Foul Swoops/Priests/Fell Types for a while.

Yeah, the Cat is very predictable (and prompt) with start times.

I had forgotten about this when I made other plans for tonight.  (Yeah, I know, ironic for the girl who runs the concert calendar to forget about a show.)  Oh well.

Yeah the reliability factor of the 8:30/9:30/10:30 rule of thumb is great but it's gotta be a drag to have to play to an empty room. The worst was when they hosted a Sonic Circuits show a few years ago and forced the first act to begin playing before doors. Not even Steve Lambert's pulled that shit as far as I know.

I think it's actually 8:30/9:15/10:15 in the backstage (although SVI started at 10:30 last night, so the second two times might be a bit more flexible).  Hadn't heard about that Sonic Circuits show--eesh.

No, but the line to get in to the Sons & Daughters / Holy Fck / A Place to Bury Strangers show at the Hotel in '08 was so long that most people didn't get in until after APTBS was done.  Then again, we could all hear the whole show from the sidewalk outside, so it was OK.

It was the show Faust headlined. There were five or six acts on the bill. We walked in and the first act was on. I guess it could've been right at doors but still...Pretty ridiculous.
And that 8:30/9:15/10:15 on the backstage makes sense.

yeah, if there were that many bands on the bill, makes sense to be extra-prompt-- the BC is very vigilant about getting shows done in time for people to make the metro.  Unlike the Nationals last night.

I love how it says they announced it at the game, and then people didn't care, and then they wondered where the trains were.

Brilliance.

As expected, the Blowtel ruined the Lightning Bolt show according to tweets I read. A blown stack caused them to cut their set. Those of us who went to Foul Swoops/Priests FTW.

That is what they get for playing there.

I can't believe you're ok with them getting off that lightly! they should be STONED TO DEATH and their heads stuck on pikes at each entrance point to DC.

Did they blow one of their pieces of equipment, or the Hotel's?

That I am not sure of. I saw someone mention stacks. Don't stacks usually belong to the venue?

Maybe somebody who went could shed light?

It can be used when talking about a guitar amp that is a head/cabinet combo...
