Future Islands fans, if you didnt go last night, you missed out.  The band was as amazing as ever and it really felt like a special occasion.  They played two off of In Evening Air (An Apology and Long Flight) and a couple from On the Water (Before the Bridge and Give Us the Wind); and that was it for old songs.  The rest of the 90 plus minutes set was new material, never played live, and shared with the world for the first time last night.  The songs didnt even have titles, as Sam pointed out for most of them.  Their new album is going to be great, if last night was any indication.  Clocking in at over an hour and a half, it was probably the longest set they will play, as they usually do hour long sets. Anyways, great music, and a great crowd equaled magic.

I almost forgot there is a conflict on Friday for me.  The aforementioned Velvet Pop show versus Black Pus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmGtsA_yrsU)/Weekends/Wing Dam/Baby Aspirin DVD/Teenage Souls at Metro Gallery...

The Pet Milk thing?  Looks fun.  I am not sure I can go to Philly in the middle of a week though.

Also i skipped Apache Dropout and the rest (too many Memorial Day BBQs to do anything last night); how was it?  That Apache Dropout album has been getting tons of plays by me.

Thee Tsunamis were a very pleasant surprise.
Apache Dropout were also really good.

No one else is going to Roomrunner/Ringo Deathstarr tonight?

Showlist, let me know how you like Pure Junk! It is supposed to be their first "out of town" gig.  I wont be seeing them until June 23 on that Peals/Pure Junk/Roomrunner show.

Az... Too bad a Monochrome Set show wasn't in DC or Baltimore.

twas good. Not sure the crowd really knew what to make of them, but it was pretty thin at that point in the night anyway. I posted some live video here and here.

Last time The Bats played DC?

Someone told me they saw them with Radiohead and Belly in 1993. Have they returned since?
