Contacting the editor would have been my first step.

Hey moneybags, are you friends with the verbose mr. nofx420fugazi?  I would love to meet him to discuss his thoughts on the legalization of marijuana and his well thought out arguments.

I'm sure thatguy would love to take them on... Maybe I'll get to ban my first users    :D

FYI I don't think some of the higher ups at the club would appreciate their emailboxes being flooded.  You do still want to attend show here don't you?

Do your homework.

The "No Electronic Theft Act" is for software and electronic works (i.e., digital music and movies).

It does not protect information and news.  It was designed specifically to create criminal penalties for those that were distributing software (and later music and movies) over the internet.

It's got to be hard to defend the behavior and attitude of the posters from HFStival.com.  Sending bulk email folders to folks with nothing to do with your issues, threatening viruses, trying to shut a fledgling site down.  It's like a short dude with a huge car; seem to be some adequacy issues pent up and raging through that board.

I guess it's frustrating waiting for that twice yearly event...oh, that's right, the winter HFStival was cancelled.  I understand more now, sorry for y'all.

The No Electronic Theft Act does not apply to music and movies, that's why a year later the passed the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

I post on HFStival.com, but not very regularly.  I agree that it is messed up for bigyawn to steal information from the hfstival site without giving credit to the author.  Also taking items from the "rumors" forum, and posting them as factual.

I also find it messed up that users from HFStival.com are flooding bigyawns users with a flood of e-mail.  It isn't necessarily the users fault, and their inboxes shouldn't be flooded.

However the bickering back and forth on the boards is quite comical to me.  So I will continue to watch all this unfold.

which, in either case, doesn't apply to you and your hfstival buddies.  now go home, please.

1. Facts can't be copyrighted.
 2. There must be an original idea or creation in order to be eligible for a copyright; rumors and speculation do not meet this standard.
 3. The "fair use" doctrine allows otherwise copyighted materials to be used for, among other things, news reporting, without authorization.
