I read about this in Rolling Stone sometime early last year, I'm glad it's finally up and running/sort of...very cool.

Yes!  I can't ever watch the end, it actually kills me.

That's a cool site... I also hope someone will someday do a history of the DC punk scene beyond hardcore... I'm talking art-punk new wave stuff like 9353 and Crippled Pilgrims... not to mention Grand Mal, and Troubled Gardens, and the Mourning Glories... this stuff around the edges was more interesting than the mainstream harDCore scene in my opinion...   the collapsed-vein counterpoint to straight-edge, if you will.

I think the world needs a Bloody Mannequin Orchestra documentary.  That would be cool as shit.

I fully agree with this! So many cool bands that weren't hardcore punks like Tiny Desk Unit, The Slickee Boys, Raz, The Urban Verbs, Tommy Keane, The Wanktones, Danny Gatton, and even the Talking Heads were ours early on.

Who was that girl band that was kind of like the female Cure? They weren't around for too awful long but were pretty good for the time they were. I'm talking kind of early 80s here.

Bombay, you mean something like this?

Jaguar, the two girl bands I can think of are Chalk Circle and Fireparty, but neither were Cure-like (in my opinion).   More Cure-esque, but merely girl-fronted rather than all-girl, was Madhouse, later known as Strange Boutique.

Also in that list you forgot to mention the Insect Surfers.   :)

Nope, neither of those bands. Seems that I remember 2 words in their name but not certain. Big haired attractive ladies on synths and all the fashion of the day. Bet you Twangirl can come up with it.

Doomie, I missed a lot! We had a nice scene going on then.

Yeah - that's about the most I've found about them online.  Thanks.

My initial thought was Madhouse too, but I guess that's not it.  Maybe Egoslavia?

Nope. Keep trying guys. I don't think they were around all that long. Everyone always enjoyed them though and they were very nice people.

Bombay, I've been thinking BMO needs to re-do "Cool as Shit" with more contemporary lyrics, updated house sounds, and a music video, don't you agree?

Hell, I'd be happy to just have "Roadmap..." on cd.
