The Cedars band URL seems quite a small time outfit based on what I saw... I would tend to think your name choice is safe Fico should you(Cartel) decide to change it.

Maybe so- but the other Cartel does seem rather legit....you have to be kidding me with this other Cedars, they are a cover band so it seems...
 
 I would reckon even a slight name change to The Cedars could be had if needed.  No seems to have taken the name outside on this small band.

They don't appear to be a cover band.  
 
 They have two CDs out and have been playing shows under the name for a couple of years. Granted, the Fargo-Moorhead music scene isn't Brooklyn, but it still appears that they have established themselves under that name, which I believe is what matters from a legal perspective.

 Cartel is shooting for Cedars.  So legally, they should be ok.
