Over a cup of coffee this morning, I finally figured out why many threads on this website are bugging me so much. Then I saw "The Art of..."
Whether you hold (or held) a job in a small business or in a large American corporation, you must know by now that sexual harassment is illegal?with dire consequences for the person who initiates it and the company who hires them.
In the real world, subjects like Kobe Bryant rape jokes, lesbians, hairy gonads, lists of women who (supposedly) like anal sex, blow job discussions, are all off-limits - singularly - and certainly in combination. Why? Because they create and/or contribute to an aggressive and threatening ??atmosphere of sexual harassment.? These subjects are off limits in the workplace, including the water cooler, company email system - even the mens room. Employers who allow it to happen are liable for possibly millions of dollars in reparations to their woman employees for allowing this ??atmosphere? to exist
Curiously - and perhaps as a backlash response by those resident male posters who do have real jobs - it thrives on this website. If this was a porn or boys only website like Unzipped, it would be more understandable - but this site is supposedly sponsored by a music venue.
I realize we're now down to only five or six women members who still post here, and that handful is pretty resilient and resourceful in their dealing with it. However, in deference to the 15-year old girl on here who is obviously a well-read music lover and regular poster - I say this: It isn't legal in the world of mortar/bricks. You don't have to listen to it in school or in your workplace. It's illegal, and you have major legal recourse if you are confronted with it, and it's much more than unwanted comments about your breasts/body/gender/appearance in general. You shouldn't have to read it here either, but so far the legal precedence hasn't extended to the Internet.
If you want to counter-argue that we could just not read the thread, the baser members here have integrated these subjects in music-related threads, or posted threads disguising the actual subject, as with the newest thread listed above. You can start now with the psycho bitch and feminazi labels, but I'd suggest your time would be better spent trying to elevate yourself out of the gutter you're living in.
