from pitchfork:

Fresh from contributing their song "The Eighth Station of the Cross Kebab House" to the Help: A Day in the Life benefit compilation, Belle and Sebastian have let slip even more details about their forthcoming album. As we previously reported, the disc will be titled The Goalkeeper's Revenge, and will feature such songs as "A White Collared Boy", "Act of the Apostle Part I", "Another Sunny Day", "Funny Little Frog", "Song For Sunshine", and "Sukie in the Graveyard".

Speaking to NME last week, B&S team captain Stuart Murdoch revealed that recording (which took place in L.A. with producer Tony Hoffer) has been completed, and the fruits of their labor should hit shelves early next year. Murdoch sez: "The process of making the record has been amazing. The last record had quite a few older songs on it because we were working with Trevor [Horn] and we wanted to give them a proper go with big arrangements. This record is all new songs-- 18 of them-- so it's all very current. It's us pretty much writing in a circle and writing within the group". Hugs all around!

Belle and Sebastian also announced that they will be playing a hometown show as part of the inaugural Popped Festival in the Castlemilk section of Glasgow. The seven-strong collective will be headlining the "Purity" night, appropriately enough, on October 8 with local bands B-Men, Galchen, and Sandstone. They'll be getting their festival on throughout the next few weeks, starting with a performance of the entirety of If You're Feeling Sinister in London on September 25, as part of All Tomorrow's Parties' Don't Look Back series. The only U.S. date scheduled right now is a stop at Coney Island's Keyspan Park on Oct. 2 as part of the Across the Narrows fest, second on a bill that includes headliner Beck, the Polyphonic Spree, the Raveonettes, Gang Gang Dance, Whirlwind Heat and a special guest to be announced.

 If you're feeling sinister:

09-25 London, England - The Barbican, Don't Look Back concert series *
10-02 Brooklyn, NY - Keyspan Stadium, Coney Island, Across the Narrows #
10-04 Malaga, Spain - Teatro Municipal Miguel De Cervantes
10-08 Glasgow, Scotland - Castlemilk Community Centre, Popped Festival $
