The Mountain Goats @ Black Cat on Thursday
« on: September 23, 2006, 07:09:00 pm »
Just got turned on to these guys (guy) very recently and am REALLY digging "We Shall All be Healed".  I've also got "The Sunset Tree" (a more recent effort) but haven't really delved into it yet.

Has anyone ever seen them live?  How was it?

I really, really want to see this show.  But I missed Sufjan Stevens down in Chapel Hill, and now my only chance to see him is in Philly that night.  Fuck, this sucks.  Maybe I can catch the Goats later on.  They'll be in Durham on October 20 for the Troika Music Festival, so perhaps then.  That'll be my only chance, though, most likely.

I'm going to check this out. Christine Fellows (aka Mrs John K Samson) is opening and I'm interested to hear her. I've heard some stuff of hers on CBC3 and it sounds pretty good.

New album is kind of a disappointment, but I'll be there tonight. I'm hoping for more stuff off of Sunset Tree and Tallahassee

does anyone know/have an opinion on whether franklin bruno will be in tow?
 he's all over that record...which i love.
but franklin bruno+ john darnielle = no brainer for me.
although the lure of clean laundry is strong.

No shit????  That surprises me for some reason.  Oh well I guess I'm completely out of touch....

Got to go to "Back to School Night" tonight anyway so I wouldn't have been able to attend.

I love John Darnielle, and as always he put on a great show. I was really surprised the show was sold out. The last time I saw the Mountain Goats a few years ago, there were about 30 people in the audience. Did they have a guest appearance on the O.C. or something?
