Headphones
« on: July 12, 2005, 12:05:00 pm »
I remember 2-3 months back someone posted about a pair of Ipod-earbud-esque (they were white, fit in the ear) headphones that everyone in the thread raved about. They were ~$100, but the article the person posted had a link for them for like $70. Does anyone remember the model I'm talking about (or if GGW can avoid the bus, could he find the thread itself)? Any help appreciated since I'd be in the market for something like that.

Actually I have turned about ten people on to those sonys. Everyone likes them. Even my crazy wife who said they would not work as she had irregular shaped ear canals and that earbud headphones were never comfortable.

I have a pair of Etymotic ER-4P earphones.  They are definitely expensive, but if you use earphones a lot, I think they are worth it.  They block almost all outside noise, and have great great sound.  I hear things in music that I have never heard in 10+ years of listening. I use the foam plugs rather than the flanged rubber ones as I find them much more comfy.  Do not order them directly from Etymotic or else they are really outrageously expensive...you can hunt around and find them for at least $100 cheaper than the Ety list price.

i'm looking for a new pair of headphones also, but not of the earbud style can't stand they way the feel...

what i am looking for is a pair like the old Senniheisers that had the yellow foam for protection.  Most of the traditional headphones sold these days are the around the ear type which I can't stand wearing for length periods of time.  Any recommendations on on the ear type headphones that lightweight?

Hmmm, I have the same complaints (not the funny shaped ear canal, but earbuds always bug me or they fall out), but maybe I should give these a try.

i dont think these will for most people, the sony ones come with different size buds

and the cheapest way to get replacement buds i have found is by getting these

...and for those looking for incredibly expensive earphones, and who have hard to fit ears, there's the Sensaphonics Pro-Phonic soft 2X from www.sensaphonics.com.  These are custom made/fitted and people will think you're a rock star...and maybe you ARE!!!

Kosmo...try a set of Grados  http://www.headphone.com/products/headphones/all-headphones/grado-sr-60.php

They make you look like a WWII radio operator (but I rather like the old school look) but these things sound great.  My only complaints would be that the cord is a little longer than i'd like they're a great pair of cans.

If you're dying for some Sennheisers, try these -http://www.headphone.com/products/headphones/all-headphones/sennheiser-px-100.php

I've never listened to them but people love 'em.
