Scott Weiland Lashes Out At Media Again
Posted on Sunday, May 15 @ 05:41:29 CDT by MusicMan

News Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland has issued the following statement: "Lately I have felt an increasing need to set the record straight since false information and gross distortions continue to get proliferated through the media in many forms by dishonest and disingenuous writers/journalists who are supported by their publications. It is not a crusade for the truth, it is a realization that the neo-tabloidism sells magazines, but also...wrecks marriages...wrecks families...wrecks careers...wrecks lives!!!"

"Yeah, there is probably some writer, critic or journarazzi that's saying to himself or among others, 'Oh, poor rock stars, oh, poor celebrities.' Well, fu** off! Does doing what I love to do give you a right to put a bull's eye on my 'back?' Does is give you the right to make it open season on anyone of notoriety? If you're a motherfu**er and you still answer yes what about about the ones that really suffer from your selfish lies and deceit, the children, the wives, the parents, and the friends!? That can not be justified...period.

"Dedicated to Mike S. You were the inspiration and muse for this little thought.

"P.S. In regards to the article 'Beating the Odds - Velvet Revolver Sticks Together Despite Unstable Pasts' from the publication Newark Star Ledger written by Jay Lusting

"I never auditioned for this band nor any other band. Nor was I ever settled on.

"If you want to find out how I in fact did come to the band then do your homework instead of continuing to perpetrate bullsh**."

when will celebrities learn...
if you don't want people in your life, in your face, in your business, and making crap up about you, you probably shouldn't be a celebrity.

i mean, if you offered this guy zero media problems in exchange for giving up his celebrity income, i think we all know what his answer would be.

besides, i think Scott Weiland is the perfect role model for all of us.

without him around and others like him around, we probably would think it was impossible to have a heroin addiction, get arrested dozens of times and pull down your pants in public whenever possible and STILL get millions of dollars and worldwide notariety!

i guess you really CAN have it all!!!

come on chimbly, scott weiland is just a principled man whose career and popularity is based not upon his media-perpetuated image, but rather on his prodigious musical talents.

 [choking back vomit]

people like scott weiland and chris cornell don't need hype from the media or the corporate music industry to achieve their success, they are musical geniuses who would have achieved fame and fortune without tawdry details of their private exploits and a carefully fashioned public image.

come on hoya, you cant really be serious.

surely both Cornell and Weiland have past the apex of thier popularity, but one can hardly deny that in thier time, both Weiland w/ STP and Cornell w/ Soundgarden (esp Cornell) not only wrote some good songs, but did a lot for music in the 1990s.

and while we all know Weiland has become a superstar jerkoff, i dont ever really recall Cornell being part of the great big hype machine.

my point was that these people are popular because of their (media perpetuated) image, whether that be heroin-addled bad boy who likes cowboy hats or long-haired grunge rebel.

chris cornell probably wasn't the best example, although he definitely fits into the mold.

pretty much all music that exists in the corporate hierarchy is based primarily on image ... there are hundreds of people who could physically perform the same music as these guys, but they didn't have the magical combination of charisma, biography, looks, and luck that makes someone a "star"

many indie bands are no different, but they're just selling a "i live in brooklyn and am cooler than you could ever be" image

then there are bands like yo la tengo who could give a fuck if they're 40-something nerds, they're just top-notch musical geniuses.

by the way, i think STP is widely regarded to have been bandwagon grunge clones who smoothed out some prickly edges and didn't really "do a lot for music in the 1990s" other than sell a bunch of records.

Yo La Tengo are NOT musical geniuses, although you may get some hipster points for the reference.

ok, they're not going to play a concerto any time soon, but their popularity is based on their ability to write and perform magnificent pop songs, not on their image.

I can never hear Yo La Tengo be mentioned anywhere and not be reminded of one of my all-time favorite headlines from The Onion: "37 Record-Store Clerks Feared Dead In Yo La Tengo Concert Disaster".

Yo La Tengo's Sugarcube on I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One.

I can listen to that song over and over.

well, that's the one with bob and david in the video, so if that doesn't cut it for VB, then i doubt anything will. that song is blissful.
