Black Cat 15th Anniversary Party
« on: September 11, 2008, 10:33:00 am »
I'm sorta interested in going, but not sure. I know Gray Matter were way before my time, but I do love their music.  I'm wondering would it still be a good show?

So is anyone from the board going to this?

I'm going, mostly for the Shirks.  Gray Matter is supposedly playing their EP, which is like 20 minutes long.  The whole thing could be over in like an hour and a half (like the Jay Reatard mainstage show earlier in the year when 'fashionably late' people missed the whole show).

Wouldn't miss it.  Even if they just play the EP it'll be worth the $10.  I'm hoping for more though.    I've only seen The Shirks once, but was pretty impressed.   Any word on Domino Team?  Worth arriving early for?

Very excited about Gray Matter. I would certainly think they'll play at least some songs off their excellent food for thought lp.  I've heard a few shirks songs and liked them so I'm definitely going to catch them.  They did an interview on Dissonance radio awhile back.  You can check it out here.

Domino Team is a new harDCore band myspace.com/dominoteam.  Not bad.

I saw Grey Matter a few reunion shows back... and they played well, and it was nice to hear the old songs again, but at the same time...

I'm going to stop by for some food, then I'll be on my way to DC Shorts at E Street Cinema.  I love those Black Cat nachos.  That cheese is like crack.  It is better than crack.

Does anyone think this show is going to sell out? My friend and I were going to buy tickets at the door.

LOVED the Gray Matter set. I'm glad I didn't get too lazy for this gig. The Shirks were great as well.

Gray Matter was awesome!  Retrospect was the perfect way to end their set.  The Shirks, although their songs started to blend into on another, were good.  Domino Team were ok. And the Cat suit guy was hilarious.

I had a lot of fun at the show. I'm really glad that I was able to attend. I don't normally get in the pit these days, but I'm glad I did for this one! and I must say Gray Matter were just fucking awesome. I totally dug the shirks too. Other perks of the evening was the dude in the cat costume and seeing Ian MacKaye. I know I'm a dork.
