the new album is great especially "cold son" and "out of reaches". i think it's a better, more consistent and fluid album than 'face the truth' and i LOVED that album. can't wait to see him!

This maybe should be another topic but I'm a firm believer in Malkmus's theory of "better drummers."

Basically, that four-on-the-floor, technically precise, "in the pocket" drummers are bullshit and a lot of bands got worse the better the drummer learned how to play (R.E.M., Husker Du, etc.)

Then I read something in Rolling Stone or something about how now that Janet Weiss is in the band they're going to be great and how Malkmus has never played with a great drummer before and Janet Weiss is the "Keith Moon" of drummers right now.  I guess they didn't see the irony.

Do the writers at Rolling Stone have sex with members of the opposite sex?  Are they allowed?

 Brian

P.S.  Did the members of Sleater Kinney have sex with members of the opposite sex?  Were they allowed?

I'm not sure I see the irony, but I think saying you read something "in Rolling Stone or something" is bullshit.  You know where you read it, so why be cagey about it?

Yes.  And don't you enjoy "A.M." and "Being There" more than "A Ghost is Born" and "Sky Blue Sky?"

Well I'd rate those four:

 1. SBS
 2. BT
 3. AM
 4. AGIB

Certainly though there are a gaggle of people who prefer latter day Wilco to the first two albums.

Wilco are like Woody Allen.  Tedious now, but I like the earlier, funnier ones.

If I were grading them, I'd give them an A+ and A, respectively. So pretty even, in reality.

She was married to Sam from Quasi/Heatmiser, but I don't think he was in the Go Betweens. Unless she's got her own Sam's Club going, and it's another Sam.
