Strokes' "Juicebox" leaked

The Strokes new single, Juicebox, is all over the Web now. I think it's really good, though I suspect it will appeal mostly to the hipsters since there's not much of a strong chorus to grab onto.
 
 I hear a lot of Franz influence in it too. At least Julian isn't mumbling into another vocal fuzzbox. Well, at least not the whole time. He actually does some vocal soaring!

Awwwwww, that's a little harsh. The *faux* hipsters jumped on the Strokes bandwagon after Last Night hit HFS, but then soon abandoned them for the Vines.
 
 The Strokes are trust-fund glamour kids who benefited enormously from an avalanche of hype, no doubt about it. But I still don't think there's a bad song on Is This It or Room on Fire. Bands like Rooney and Phantom Planet started out similarly, but they're fading because they only have one or two good songs in them. The Strokes will last awhile because they write good, catchy songs.

Agreed.  I think the Strokes get a bad rap.  When Is This It? came out, it was the first of the whole garage rock revival.  It was pre-White Stripes craze; I actually would give the Strokes much of the credit for the indie-fication of mainstream music.  Without "Last Nite," I guarantee that the White Stripes wouldn't have hit the way they did; without the White Stripes, Modest Mouse wouldn't have taken off, and so forth.
 
 Sure, they're trust fund kids, but they at least care about what they're doing.  They practice all the time, and are tight as hell.

I BEG TO DIFFER!  
 i'm not going to argue your Rooney comment, because obviously i'm biased.  however, Phantom Planet had built a huge following long before The Guest ever came out.  many will even argue that their first album, Phantom Planet Is Missing, is BETTER than The Guest (& i'll agree to that, too).  Phantom Planet had recieved some radio play with the Guest, but didn't hit it "big" until right as their THIRD album came out, with California, due to the OC.  thus leading me to say that Phantom Planet's newfound commercial success has really sprung from the whoring of that one song, and has nothing to do with what they are releasing as of late (ex. people who started getting into them at that time didn't even KNOW they were releasing another cd).  
 
 if you've got doubts about these guys, wait 'till their new album comes out because the new stuff is phenomenal and will blow you away.  but i feel as though they've always been writing smart, catchy pop-rock.
 
 
 and again, i'll try not to say a lot about Rooney but most of their commercial success was due to A) Phantom Planet, B) tour's with the Strokes, Weezer, etc. etc., C) Robert's acting career and D) eventually, their appearence on the OC (which came, as i recall, quite some time after their debut was released).  i also can't find a single bad song on their album.
