It might be the album of the year so far.  Other thoughts?

I like it, I don't love it. I feel like it's impressive but having listened to it straight through more than a dozen times, I can't recall a single track. Each song feels like a lot of pieces put together.

Instead I'm more enjoying The Sword, which deals in similar themes but the pieces they put together are a lot more catchy and I find myself looking forward to putting it on. Mastodon feels like its work. I felt the exact same way about Leviathan too. I worked at it for months and then finally let it fade into the stacks.

It's a great album, but I hear what you say about the tracks not being memorable. But still it's good stuff.  I got the copy with the DVD which is pretty cool.  Haven't gotten to check out The Sword, but I did see they are one of the openers for the NYE Clutch show at Ramshead.
