No Direction Home on PBS

Who watched this last night?  Very cool.  Also, who was that Vincent Price lookalike that played the zither and sang soprano?

The autoharp?

I thought it was the New Lost City Ramblers

Nah, it was a brief clip.  The guy's voice was almost otherworldly.  He was surrounded by a bunch of women.

I caught most of it.  Pretty great stuff there.  I'll have to pick it up so I can see the whole thing.  And after hearing the music, I may pick up the soundtrack.  I stayed away from most of the Bootleg series, but the new one sounded excellent.

Did they use this as one of PBS's pledge-drive things, where they interrupt every few minutes to beg for money?

I taped it last night just in case.  That way I can fast-forward through all the crap when I watch it later.

Taped it as well...
I don't think PBS squeezes in their pledge drive commericals anymore. They advertise upcoming shows, etc. at the beginning / end. Their "commercials" are better than the crap on paid TV.
Anyhow, I'd expect promotion to buy this series, if anything.

No pledge drive.  Two-hours without interruption.

It was not a pledge drive, unless you consider that drunk Irish dude spouting on "interrupting."

As have I.  I'm not Dylan's #1 fan as some others are on here, but this doc has gotten me into him again.

Also, Highway 61 Revisited is an awesome song.

Did you notice how quickly the level in his beer glass would drop?  One minute he would have a full pint in front of him, thirty-seconds later, while he was still rambling on the same topic, there was only like an inch left.

I'll take "Wrote poems on bar napkins to get chicks to sleep with him" for $500 Alex.

This Irish folkie has lived in Greenwich Village for almost 50 years but he still speaks like he just got off the boat from Tiperrary.
