But when is the last time GC has played a special show just for DC/Baltimore/Waldorf?  I know a band from Boston like this....Godsmack.
Didnt they play a special cd release show or something at 9:30 last year?

And for the record, I didn't start the thread in gopes of poking fun of them. I want to know about their girl troubles.

not that i think you really care, but just to humor the question:

joel is engaged, billy has a longtime girlfriend, paul has been seeing the same girl for a while, chris has a girlfriend, and i'm pretty sure benji is single now.

in other words, don't believe everything you see in teen people.  that should come as a surprise to noone. [/b]

Benji is single and last I heard he had the drama of getting piss off phone calls from one "rockstar" female because he was talking to Christina Aguleria...  LOL  Even rockstars have drama too!

Why would he want to talk to Christine Agulera? She doesn't seem all that bright.

I have been to a few "package" type shows like Warped where they got booed unmercifully. At one point they looked they were about to cry. They may be nice guys but it doesnt mean that anyone not female and 16 doesnt see through them. Its weak music made by poseurs.. I realize they may have some friends on the board, but that is my opinion and im sticking with it..

The real problem with the band isn't even that they're fake.  That's fine.  It's that they're the only band from around here who seems to get national attention . . . and they're fake.  We've got one of the greatest record labels around, and although Dischord was never in it to get fame and fortune, it'd be nice if they got even a teensy bit of the publicity that gets wasted on GC.  They're fame hurts DC/Balt more than it helps.

I dunno...Dischord seems to get quite a bit of attention, and all of it is positive, downright worshipful.

What do y'all mean when you say Good Charlotte is "fake"?

Do they not actually perform their music, ala Milli Vanilli?

Well, they are fake in the sense that they claim to have had such a horrible time in school, that they were the "losers", blah blah blah...when if you ask people who went to school with them, it couldn't be farther from the truth.

Or then again, maybe the people they went to school with--myself included--are biased. Everyone thinks they had it bad in high school.

 *shrugs*

(I should really post on some other topics or else everyone is going to think I'm here just to bash GC!  I just usually don't think I have anything insightful to add to the other convos)

I don't beleve that there is such a thing as 'fake' in music. I do beleve that there is such a thing a good.  GC is not good, but that never stopped anyone from selling records.  I just wish that they would sell advertising space on their untattooed body parts so we could get this whold punk rock nonsence over with.  Infact, if your the front person of a band, I highly recommend getting a Mountan Dew tattoo on your forhead as a proactive messure, for the punk rock band of the future will be messured by the power of their sellout.

Although it's mostly BS, the punk scene was built in some sense on authenticity.  Definit it is hard, but to paraphrase that old Supreme Court Ruling on smut, "I'll know it when I don't see it".  And they just give off this real obvious impression of doing anything to further their career.  I remember seeing an add for one of their tours with the band standing next to a Honda or some other car that was sponsoring their tour.  There's nothing wrong with selling out, but you can't have it both ways.  Either you're still part of the "scene" or "community" or you're a big rock star.
