Official photo's of Maserati's new sedan have been released...the 'Quattroporte'. Just wondered what your opinions were.

Very nice I am sure they will fly off the shelves....

Its a shame they didnt go with a B pillar-less design, my first glimpse of the first photo made me think they had..... B pillareless design are always so elegant.

To me it looks like somebody took the last Maserati the 3200 or whatever they call it and let it make a baby with a maxda RX8.

It looks very neat and tidy, but a little conservative. Just what you would hope for in a buyer of such a car as well, I expect.

I see what you mean, although that front grill treatment has been the signature Maserati look for a long time. It's probably mere coincidence, because I know the Japs would never steal anyone's elses design!

The previous Maserati had a much less interesting nose. I dont see the new nose as a maserati feature, but then I always think of the flat fronted 80s Masers.

I think the rx8 is a very fine design indeed. I would rather have the maserati, but the RX8 is much more innovative.....

A four seater coupe with a rotary engine and suicide doors.....

you wont find any car that comes close to that description.

What has the Maserati got going for it? Oh yea a Ferrari V8 under the bonnet..... How much will it cost?

When are you going to get the silly Maser SUV, I am sure you will make some money then, even if it turns out to be shite.

The Maserati SUV....The KUBANG! will most probably end up not going into production. Maserati aren't sure if that's the direction they want to go at this point, but that could change as you well know.

Pricing for the Quattroporte has not been finalized yet, but it will come in under $100k nicely optioned out. I can reserve you one with a $1,000 deposit.  ;)

optioned out? that thing shouldnt need options it should be fully loaded from the get go.

Hey I can afford the $1000,  the other 99 might be a problem along with the insurance.....

 How about 99, yearly installments?

Shame about the KERRANG, that thing would have gone down well here and if its good for Porsche, why not?  Actually that big infiniti crossover is probably less than 50% of the price of the proposed Kebang, but about %95 of the fun.

I don't remember what the options were now, but they were stupid stuff that only rich people with more money than sense would even be interested in. Alcantara suede headliner and all that stuff!    All the normal stuff is standard.

The Nissan Murano and it's Infinity sister are nice looking cartrucks, and I think the Porsche Cayenne is a stupid direction for them to go. It's superior to the bimmer X5 for sure, but who the hell needs a $65k + off-road vehicle that will never see a hard shoulder, never mind "off-road".....I know, I know...the same dumb rich people who want Alcantara suede headliners!

Anybody think Jeff Gordon could do ok in Formula One?

Jeff Gordon Impresses Williams - 19 June 2003
Sir Frank Williams has fended off speculation that NASCAR star Jeff Gordon's future lies in a BMW-powered F1 cockpit.

The American, Gordon, swapped cars with Juan Pablo Montoya at the Indianapolis road circuit last week and impressed with his poise and pace.

While Montoya lapped seven times in Jeff's tin-topped Chevy, Gordon got within a second per lap of the Colombian's lap time with a similar number of laps.

Williams said: 'It wasn't at all a proper F1 test, just a day for the fans and for the guys.

'So he didn't get many laps and didn't spend much time seriously preparing for it.'

Nonetheless, Juan Pablo Montoya concluded that the Californian 'did really, really well' in the 2002-specification grand prix machine.

'I did some laps in it in the morning,' Montoya said, 'and I think he ended up just over a second slower.

'That's pretty good for your first time in a grand prix car.'

Gordon, a three-time winner of the Brickyard 500, was clearly impressed with the 900-bhp monster and praised it's 'amazing' carbon brakes and traction control.

Sir Frank noted that Jeff was 'totally unafraid' in the car and that Williams engineers were 'truly very, very impressed.'

He spoke to Dr Mario Theissen, BMW director, after the event who recollected his own enthusiasm for the 31-year-old American.

'Mario told me that Juan Pablo was braking for the first corner at 75 metres and Jeff eventually got it down to about 85 or 90 metres.

'That's extremely impressive seeing as the NASCAR has to start the braking programme about 250 metres before that corner,' said Williams.

'He's clearly a very good driver.'

Any plans of pulling Jeff Gordon out of NASCAR and into Formula One, however, will be scotched because Sir Frank simply can't afford him.

'He is a winning NASCAR driver and I am told his earnings are out of sight,' he said. 'But we'd all love to have a world class US driver in a Grand Prix.'

Order me one awhile Mankie.    ;)    Make sure it has a moonroof and top of the line CD and MP3 player with internet access. Oh, and I want the built-in seat heater and massager with adjustable lumbar support. I'm thinking maybe a midnight blue with a nice glaze to set it off.
