New season starts tonight! YIP! I wonder if Matt and Trey will do something on the Foley scandal. They're always good about producing something timely at the 11th hour.

I just hope that they don't let their anger get in the way of the humor as some of the last season showed.

Admittedly, last year's season was one of their weakest. It wasn't the preachy/anger aspect that bothered me as much as some of the episodes were just, well, bad (IMO, that Oprah/James Frey/Towlie episode was their all time worst. Towlie's one of my favorite characters and even I had a hard time sitting through the whole thing.)

All that being said I always look forward to a new season. If only in hopes that Tweak reappears.

Sarcasm, I assume?  They make fun of everyone, after all.

I actually called tonight's episode based on the TV previews, showing the four of them sitting at computers, aged, wrinkled, age-spotted, and obviously in poor health and hygiene.  I figured they were going to make fun of World of Warcraft and its ilk, and sure enough, the title of the episode is "Make Love, Not Warcraft".  They should throw in a few jokes about Myspace, too; it's begging to be lampooned.

This will actually be the second half of Season 10.  The first half consisted of the episodes from this past spring, including the Oprah/Towlie episode (as well as "Return of Chef", "Cartoon Wars" 1 and 2, "Smug Alert", "ManBearPig", and "Tsst").  So it's really Season 10 that's shaping up to be a bit lacking, although I don't think it's been too bad so far.  "Tsst" is absolutely hilarious; those Nanny reality shows are idiotic.  And the Dark Crystal joke had me rolling.     :)

Season 9 (last year's season), was actually pretty good, in my opinion.  "Trapped in the Closet", anyone?  And just when you think they're getting too preachy, they whip out episodes like "Ginger Kids" or "Marjorine" (the one where the boys are trying to steal the "future-telling device" from the girls).  Season 10 has been pretty preachy so far, though, which is probably why "Tsst" is my favorite of the batch from spring.

It's less hassle to make fun of them if you say you are one....

South Park Rulz!!

Can't wait for tonight's season premiere. By the way who cares what the politics of South Park is.

They rightfully make fun of democrats and republicans.

I'm a republican. AND i rule. But that doesn't mean you can't make fun of me. I have quirks. You have quirks. We've all got 'em.

Let's just enjoy life and laugh at each other.

It's a well known fact that Republican's can't laugh at each other as you suggest unless they're taking advantage of someone.

South Park Republican is a term coined to describe what was claimed by the authors as a "new wave" of young adults and teenagers who hold political beliefs that are, in general, aligned with those that seem to underpin gags and storylines in the popular television cartoon. The phrase was coined in 2001 by commentator Andrew Sullivan, who identified himself as a South Park Republican after hearing that the show's creators had claimed to be Republicans when receiving an award from the liberal advocacy group, People For the American Way (PFAW).

The term is meant to be more of a casual indication of beliefs than a strong partisan label. While South Park co-creator Matt Stone is a registered Republican, co-creator Trey Parker is actually a registered member of the Libertarian Party. At the same time they "outed" themselves as Republicans, Parker and Stone named All in the Family producer and PFAW founder Norman Lear as one of their heroes, and Lear later worked on South Park.[1] As the show's co-creator, Matt Stone, sums it up: "I hate conservatives, but I really fucking hate liberals." [2] Such sentiments were reflected in their movie Team America: World Police.

Yeah, we have seen that. What we're sick ofâ??and it's getting even worseâ??is: you either like Michael Moore or you wanna fuckin' go overseas and shoot Iraqis. There can't be a middle ground. Basically, if you think Michael Moore's full of shit, then you are a super-Christian right-wing whatever. And we're both just pretty middle-ground guys. We find just as many things to rip on on the left as we do on the right. People on the far left and the far right are the same exact person to us.

By this definition I'm completely a South Park Republican.  I hate neo-cons, but I really hate hard-core liberals.  Give me my small as can be, as unobtrusive as can be federal government that respects all viewpoints and religions and cultures enough to leave them the hell alone.

"At that moment, I will use Intimidating Shout..." - Eric Cartman

Hilarious.  Good god, that cracked me up.  I've never played World of Warcraft, but I have a group of friends who do, and the whole Leroy Jenkins thing was a big joke in that circle a while back.
