I don't really have anything to say about this show, maybe You Be Betty will.

ha!  i watched the premire last week.  it was one of the cheesiest shows i've ever seen (like, Full-House-meets-Disney-movie-meets-7th-Heaven-cheesy).  and America Ferrerra is far from ugly.  they just made her look a little geeky.  i'm just surprised the nickname hasn't caught on...

I'm probably going to get myself in trouble for saying this, but she really could stand to do some crunches and cut down on the calorie intake. Take care of that, and she has potential for hotness.

i don't have much energy to argue with you right now, but wow.  she is one of the few girls out there that actually looks healthy...

Actually, more than 50% of American women fall into the same unhealthy "overweight" (not obese) category that she's in. So I would have to have to disagree with the "healthy" part, as well as the "few girls" part of your statement.

i think she's on the heavier side of average, but she definitely isn't unhealthily overweight.  she can't weigh more than, like, 140-150 tops.

After reading Shales's review I was anxious to check this show out.  Let's just say that'll be the 1st and last time for that.

Well yes, but she's probably 5'2" or so, right?

140-150 is a healthy weight range if you're 5'7"-5'10" or so...

Man, trashing a chick's weight is so unnecessary, when you consider there are girls who are killing themselves to fit some bizarre weight ideal.   Sure, people die from obesity too, but nobody got over obesity because someone called them a heiffer.

Anyway, regarding the show... that's kind of a disappointment to hear.  One review I read a couple of weeks ago sounded promising, I guess that was premature...

i don't know how tall she is.  but she doesn't look any more than a heavier average to me.

i don't even understand how that plays in with your standard of beauty.  she is a beautiful girl.  i don't find people like Nicole Richie fairly attractive, nor do i think they're setting proper examples for the rest of the world.  it's not okay to not eat.  it's not okay to sit at home and glamourize bullimia and crack use when you're a public figure like that.  and it's not like America Ferrera is setting an unhealthy example.  i'm glad that there's an actress out there that is happy just the way she is and is getting work (albeit shitty pilots...) and loving her body.  you don't need to stick your fingers down your throat to be beautiful.

I thought the show was pretty disappointing, too. I won't watch again (although I'm giving studio 60 five more chances).

There's a big gsp between Nicole Richie and Ugly Betty, it's called physical fitness. Like this:

I think it is relevant to talk about a chick's weight when the show is called "UGLY BETTY", and the PRIMARY FOCUS OF THE SHOW IS THAT SHE IS SUPPOSEDLY UNATTRACTIVE. Did you even watch the show?

And if you read my original post, you will see that I said if she took better care of her body (unlike Nicole Richie, who ALSO doesn't take care of her body), she could potentially be hot.

Would YOU date a fat woman?
