for some reason i decided to drink heavily at this show, much more so than usual. not sure why. so take most of this with that proverbial grain o' salt. georgie james was good, i've seen 'em better. that room wasn't doing them any favors. lately i've been getting frustrated w/people complaining about the sound at the black cat, i mean, it's a rock show, deal with it, jesus christ. but maybe they have a point. it didn't ruin the performance, but it sounded a bit thin. and the random blasts of feedback during camera obscura's set weren't too enjoyable, and you could see tracyanne was miffed early on.
but still, CO was really good. i love that band a alot and was drunk, so, again, y'know. they did a lot of slow songs early in the set, so it didn't really get going for a bit, and even the more upbeat ones didn't have the same dynamics as on the album. but they just write really great pop songs, it's hard not to enjoy it. played almost the entire new album and a few others like "80s fan," and "teenager." "suspended from class" was the final encore. again, that room might not be the best to pick up the nuances in their songs, but i had a blast.
the hott rumor in the club was that tony hawk was there. hey, i just report what i hear...
