The new Bloc Party is incredible...

and the new Idlewild is just like their earlier stuff - which is a good thing.

I haven't bought a single album in 2007, but I'm going to go with the Broken West, based on what I've heard.

I also like what I've heard of the new Peter Bjorn and John as well as Fratellis albums, but I think they don't come out here until March.

Even though it officially came out the other day, I'm sticking with "Wincing the Night Away."

The new Papercuts album is probably my favorite. Although I don't think it's officially released until February.

Only January 07 album I have heard is the new Menomena, and it gets the thumbs up from me.

I've heard the new Field Music, CYHSY, and Youth Group.  Field Music is my fav of those three.

I assume Bloc Party, Idlewild, and the Magic Numbers will make some February 2007 Best Of lists (assuming US release dates).

Cool thread. Monthly recaps are always helpful. I haven't bought any 07 release due to the cheap Tower purchases.  I plan go get Beirut, Menomena and The Good, The Bad and The Queen (I think that came out in Jan).

A bit too Franklin Covey for me. (I'm still contemplating: "Best Albums in this decade, but you have four more years to go" thread.)  ;)

the vietnam album probably gets my vote, although i prefer "priest, poet & the pig" when it comes to favorite song. david kilgour's new one is also pretty solid.
