32nd Turn Off

a crazy psych funk album from Eddy Grant  with his brother on drums put out in 1969, released between The Equals and his first solo album..

super rare  but out in the wild via streaming... beware of NSFW album artwork :D

one the best albums I've heard this year produced by Rod Jones (Idlewild), i'm hearing lots of influences The Smiths, The Cure and obviously Idlewild...

for a teaser check out the video for The Mauritian Badminton Doubles Champion, 1973

Despite the misleading title, by my count, this is the first studio album (1980) by Piazzolla’s “new tango quintet”

This “band” would go on to record Tango zero hour 6 years later in NYC which is definitely a top 100 record for me. It’s astounding stuff and if you haven’t heard it you must:

I have a pretty solid tango collection but my first new year’s resolution is to deepen my collection by classic tango artists like Gardel, Piazzolla, Goyeneche, Rivero, Troilo and Salgan and fill in gaps.

This is the hardest to find of James Brown’s Christmas albums. My copy is really scratched up

Not one copy of the original US pressing on eBay. A handful on discogs

I think this album must have sold 5-10k tops when it came out in 1970.

A decade ago there was a two cd issue that compiled all his Xmas stuff…
