I'm just discovering Marnie Stern and boy howdy, her new one (the title is way too obnoxious to re-print here; think Fiona Apple second album) is incredible.

The Pitchfork review reminded me that I had the Marnie Stern album on my HD and still hadn't heard the whole thing. Nine tracks into it now. It blows her last one, which is damn good, out of the water.

Listening to Silver Jews. Did not know them until I saw a recommendation in last.fm while listening to pavement. they seem very good.

The new Lambchop is great. Not sure if it's something that non-regular Lambchop listeners will enjoy, but it's soft and subtle and very moving. Also, it has probably the best packaging of any release this year.
 
 Also, I just heard this band Dead Western. I'm still waiting for the LP to come in the mail, but from the one track I heard, I'm really excited. I'll get back to you guys after I hear it.
