blissful:

and it appears that the new pet shop boys album ("yes") is out and about... but haven't been able to track it down yet.  there is/will be a double-album version of it, the second album being made up of dub remixes.  i hope they tour again soon.

Snoop Dogg's foray into dubstep

Ugh...

It's nice that he's trying new things but it didn't have to be this cheesy.

Lindstrom remixes the Boredoms

this really didn't work for me... it's all over the place, doesn't show lindstrom's compositional skillz.  seemed like a bunch of random ideas thrown together.  and those ideas weren't his best.

I'm not going to bother with cute little album pictures, but I'll grade these new releases for y'all.

Nick Lowe (new Greatest Hits comp) A
Justin Townes Earle A-
Alela Diane A-
Elvis Perkins in Dearland A-
Great Lake Swimmers B-
Neko Case B-

Haven't heard anything else out in the last month that I'd give a second listen.
Anybody have any new releases to recommend?

What's this all about?
As in what kind of music is it?  If that is the question, it is shoegaze with female vocals.  Great album.

PJ Harvey and John Parish

for some reason, i always thought that pj was one of those artists that only girls with emotional baggage listen to . . . like tori amos or ani d.  but i heard a song or two by her with this john parish fellow, and my it was good.
