I concur with the superlatives for I Can Hear...  but I don't think its the only praiseworthy YLT album.

The above was one of my 2006 favorites.  And Nothing Turned Itself... and Fakebook are excellent as well.

Agreed...I'd even add May I Sing with Me to the list.  All are pretty much flawless, IMO.

To the lads discussing Yo La Tengo above, thank you.  I don't know why or how I they avoided my collection for so long but after those recommendations above, I picked up "I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One" from eMusic and now I can't stop listening to it.  I agree - brilliant album.

Why I actually decided to listen to this, I'm not sure...

Even during their days as teenagers in a second-string '90s grunge act, the Aussies of Silverchair had a knack for turning out memorable hooks. Still, the transformation they've pulled off for their first LP since '02 is fairly astonishing. Young Modern is a polished glam-rock suite, boasting more ecstatic melodies and colorful riffs than their four previous efforts combined. Frontman Daniel Johns' voice, once unremarkable, now soars from campy snarl to sensitive falsetto in mere moments. Here's hoping Silverchair's second act is just getting started. A-
