[panda bear - "person pitch"]
holy shit is this great ... i have all the animal collective albums and "young prayer", and i like a lot of the stuff, but i feel like they've never really hit anything out of the park ("who could win a rabbit" was a glimpse of it) ... this album is pretty much a perfect distillation of everything animal collective and him have been trying to do the last few years ... most tracks hit the pop sweet spot on so many levels, but "bros" is the standout ... the first part of "good girl / carrots" reminded me a little of the brian eno's / david byrne's "my life in the bush of ghosts" with the polyrhythmic beats and tape splicing

awesome, but not as transcendent as some are calling it ... a solid 4/5 stars

talk about hitting it out of the park ... wow ... i'm completely biased on this one, but i think butch vig's production really works on this and that they managed to keep a lot of what made them special early on ... and it's always great to see a kid you grew up with doing this well

very solid, nothing groundbreaking, but a sturdy album from a band who looks like they're in it for the long haul
